District 39 is thrilled to announce that all four of its elementary schools (Central, Harper, McKenzie, and Romona) have been recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools for 2023-26. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School earning the recognition last year, meaning all six District 39 schools are now Apple Distinguished Schools.
This award recognizes the efforts of the four elementary schools in using Apple technology in innovative ways that inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical teaching and learning among its learning community. From our technology teachers to our classroom teachers, our faculty consistently integrate technology in new and creative ways to help our students in the pursuit of academic excellence and growth. Additionally, teachers are provided opportunities to grow their knowledge and approaches to the curriculum through professional development sessions.
Each school went through a detailed application process that included both narrative and video elements to illustrate how they leverage the use of this technology as part of teaching and learning. Each school’s video submissions are linked below:
